CASE STUDY 1: Editorial Illustration

In response to the Letters to the Editor section of the NY Times article “No, Love Doesn’t Make You an Enabler” by Maia Szalavitz. The product: an editorial illustration that encompasses the messages within the letters.

CASE STUDY 2: Story Board

In learning the art of storyboarding, this project demonstrates the implementation of narrative structures and the development of a working process for illustration. I based this technique on a personal narrative, sharing the story of tearing my achilles during a competition in Spring 2020, and the trials of coming back from my injury during the pandemic.

CASE STUDY 3:
Re-imagining a beloved narrative

For this project, I created a new illustration based on a beloved fairytale. I chose to re-illustrate a plot stemming from The Gingerbread Man. My solution was a storybook for adults whose kids have left for college. Riddled with separation anxiety, the parents of “Joey” assume the worst when their kid does not answer one of their millions of calls. Their minds spiral until finally Joey answers, letting them know he was just taking a nap. This project challenged my ability as both a storyteller and designer, but ultimately led to one of my favorite illustration projects.

CASE STUDY 5: ILLUSTRATION FOR UNDERSTANDING

I chose to illustrate the personal narrative of my senior thesis. The goal of this project was to both explain a research-heavy document on the Effects of Interpersonal Communication on Athletic Team Cohesion and Success, while telling an entertaining and humorous narrative of my experience to make the content more digestible.
